It is interesting to note that the wall surrounding west Berlin was built, in part, to keep the westerners out. The talk of building a wall along the US-Mex border is intended to do the same. I have even heard they want to include razor wire, mine fields and armed towers, just like Berlin. So, why is it bad for the Soviets to build a wall around Berlin and good for us to do the same on our border?
OK, I have to be clearer on this question…the Berlin wall was built AROUND west Berlin…yes, it was built to, haha, stop the influx of emigration from East Germany to the west. But it was also, as explained by Khrushchev to help prevent an invasion from the the west, as western powers did have a military presence in West Berlin and could move freely in and out of the city via the air.
BTW, the so-called minute men militias on the US-Mex border are armed and have permission to shoot anyone caught crossing.
East Germany had its own seat at the UN and was thus recognized as a sovereign nation.

As for illegals from south of the border being a threat to our national security, how many illegals hijacked the planes on 9/11? I will answer that for you, NONE. They were here legally. More would be terrorists have been stopped coming from Canada than form Mexico in recent years.
