What is the best way using public transportation to get from Berlin airport (TXL) to Friedrichshain?

Would I need to take a bus and a train, or is there a bus from the airport that will take me straight there?

There is no train going to Tegel Airport, only a bus and no it will not be direct to Friedrichshain.
The best will be to take a cab aproximate cost 25 to 30 €
If that is too much take the bus first and the U Bahn or S Bahn.
I will also add the official site how to get to and from the Tegel airport by public transport.

You could easily take bus & train if you don’t have to carry so much luggage. I don’t know where you are heading exactly but I checked on the site of the local transport system (bvg), it only takes about half an hour to Frankfurter Allee in Friedrichshain. You can check for yourself if you just put in the exact adress

For German train information, try
It can be switched easily to British English or American English, or just about any other language.
But honestly, if the taxi is only 20-30 euro, I’d more likely do that.
